Ski Alta
A New Hampshire man died after a skiing accident at Alta Saturday.Thomas M. Kennedy Jr., of Londonderry, N.H., and two friends took the Wildcat lift at 3:40 p.m., said Salt Lake County Sheriff’s Lt. Don Hutson.During their last run, “one of the gentleman crashed and, as he got up, he didn’t see (Kennedy),” Hutson said. “He assumed the man had continued to ski down, so he continued down.”When the 51-year-old Kennedy, whom Hutson called an “expert skier,” was not at the bottom of the run, the ski patrol was notified. The skier was found critically injured in the Westward Ho area of the resort, Hutson said. But there was “no immediate” indication he had collided with the tree, and Hutson said a heart attack or stroke were not out of the question. Officials were awaiting the result of an autopsy.
