Wicked Local Carver
In less than two years, Sysco Boston went from an idea on paper to a completed 650,000-square-foot food distribution facility. The company hit the ground running in June as construction neared completion by moving its entire inventory from the old facility in Norton to its new campus in Plympton over a single weekend. Since then, Sysco has been breaking sales goals and is well on its way to exceeding annual sales of $1 billion. Sysco employees, area residents and town and state officials finally got a chance to celebrate the completion of the $100 million project last Friday (Sept. 21) with an official ribbon-cutting ceremony. They gathered under a tent at the entrance of the building to hear speeches, taste some food and get guided tours of the new building and grounds.
