While you're waiting for the Schott Perfecto line to launch in January, here's a little something to tide you over: Hitting Barneys stores this week is a six-piece capsule collection made exclusively for the retailer by the ninety-seven-year-old Schott. Our favorite? This near-perfect goatskin bomber. Sounds kind of exotic, right? Well goatskin's what Schott used when they created the original version — a boxier brown jacket that's still available for the authentic set — for the U.S. Navy on the eve of World War II. Like its predecessor, this all-black, slimmed-down version for Barneys was made in the company's facilities in Newark, New Jersey, and features a (removable mouton) collar. Another thing they didn't change for this version: its near indestructibility, which, considering the price tag, is a worthwhile holdover.
