The Xbox 360 is currently the highest selling console worldwide, with the highest amassed playtime and some of the most expensive games. It’s hard to say how many people use their PC’s for gaming purposes, but statistics show that PC video game sales are up a mind-blowing 230%. Games on the PC are significantly cheaper, the game library is bigger and they’re more capable in general – but gaming PC’s are also a lot more expensive and can be pretty confusing if you aren’t tech-savvy.
2010 marked the first most recent shift in trends, where PC games sales generated more revenue. The trend does show signs of reversing this year over the 2012 holidays, but even console hardware (accessories) has fallen for a sixth consecutive month. This either means that people are getting bored with the current selection of consoles, or more and more people are beginning to game on PC.
